Seichou Karate Spotlight

We had the opportunity to chat with Richard Romero, Master Instructor and Founder of Seichou Karate, about his business and how RhinoFit has affected business. Richard is a Japanologist and former full-contact Kyokushikai-kan Karate champion with more than 40 years of experience.
Johnny Rhino: Thank you for taking the time to talk with us, we love to connect with our customers and learn more about their businesses. Could you tell us about your business and the clients you serve?
Seichou Karate: We’re a school of traditional Japanese martial and cultural arts that emphasizes holistic growth by teaching powerful karatedo, Japanese language, calligraphy, flower arranging and abacus. Through our unique interdisciplinary curriculum, students from 4 to 94 grow physically and mentally. In fact, “Seichou” means “growth” in Japanese. Our student body is split evenly among, adults, children and families. Students with a heartfelt desire to make significant personal growth through rigorous training in an environment of simplicity, honesty, courtesy and sincerity are most comfortable at Seichou Karate.
Johnny Rhino:What sets your business apart from other businesses?
Seichou Karate: Seichou Karate Dojo is unique in three ways. First, today, Korean martial arts dominate the industry followed by BJJ and MMA. So, by teaching exclusively Japanese martial and cultural arts, Seichou Karate is a rare gem in a crowded market. Second, as one of the progeny of Kyokushinkai-kan, Seichou Karate emphasizes contact free-fighting, which is unusual in the world of traditional martial arts. Third, we offer true cultural immersion.
Johnny Rhino:How does RhinoFit fit within the long-term vision of the company?
Seichou Karate: RhinoFit is very intuitive and its technical support staff is very responsive. We have been very happy since January 2017 when we switched to RhinoFit for the management of our school of traditional Japanese karate. Since then, our staff has learned to use RhinoFit well and when we find ourselves stumped, help is just a short call away because RhinoFit’s weekday telephone support is available on the second or third ring. Although we find that RhinoFit possesses many of the functionalities that we need for our business, when we identify a feature that is lacking, we explain our need to the tech support team and they submit a request for software enhancement to their developers. Alternatively, tech support helps us create a work-around. Best of all, RhinoFit frequently introduces enhancements that are relevant to our business. Since RhinoFit has proven to be responsive to our needs, we have every intention of staying with RhinoFit as we grow.
